Today BT have just completed installation of their tail circuit to provide additional connectivity to our NE5 Datacentre. This connection is provided directly to Telecity Harbour Exchange 6/7 (HEX6/7), and compliments our existing diverse connectivity to Manchester.
Between Christmas and New Year, Virgin Media also completed splice work on our primary connection to Manchester, which reduced our round-trip latency to 4ms to Manchester. The additional connection to London should provide round-trip latency in the region of 8ms to London from Newcastle.

Work begins on our Newcastle NE5 data centre!
Today saw the begining of work on site to install the new power supply for our Newcastle NE5 data centre. Contractors began dig work this morning ready for installation of a new underground power cable running from the site back to the nearby substation. Last week work was underway at the substation to install a new transformer ready for the increase in supply. When completed this will provide us with the 600KW of power required when the data centre is at full capacity.
